Kin of the Day

One species a day, and how long ago its family line and yours were the same line.

Every faint line is one of the other species, rising from the moment it split from us; time runs up the page on a log scale. The tree and the names are the Open Tree of Life synthetic tree; each age is the TimeTree median for that species and Homo sapiens. Species that meet us at the same ancestor get one age, the median of theirs, and a deeper split is never shown younger than a shallower one. Ages are estimates with wide intervals, more so the deeper they go. A new species every day, each once per cycle.
