Stanford Course Ngrams
How many Stanford courses use a word in their title or description, every academic year since 2009–10. Compare up to four, separated by commas; a two-word phrase works too.

Loading the counts…
Courses per 1,000 whose title or description uses the word, out of every course in that year’s ExploreCourses bulletin (). A course listed under several subjects counts once. A word also counts its plural, so network finds networks; a phrase matches as two adjacent words. Descriptions got longer: the median went from to words, so most words drift up a little for that reason alone; a word that rises several-fold has really spread. Hover or tap a year for the counts and a link to those courses. In narrows the count to one school or department: each department sits under the school the current bulletin lists it in, in every year, so Earth Sciences’ old departments are in Doerr throughout. A course cross-listed in two departments counts in each.
